The Ionic Particle Gauge (IPG) offers a comprehensive solution for precise and consistent particle number concentration monitoring.
Originally designed for periodic technical inspection (NPTI) measurements, the IPG now comes with a range of features that make it an ideal choice for a variety of ultrafine particle monitoring applications.
Designed for OEM integration, the IPG offers a range of data communication options that allow seamless integration into larger systems.
More Accurate, Precise, and Consistent Particle Number Concentration Monitoring for Manufacturing and Industrial Operations
The IPG operation is based on unique patented technology using the escaping current technique to detect particles. In this technique, the particles are first charged in a corona-ionized flow and then detected electrically as they exit the sensor.
The unique design of the IPG system ensures continuous and stable sample flow and it keeps critical parts of the sensor clean, eliminating the need for frequent maintenance even during long-term measurements and high-concentration environments.
The IPG sensor additionally uses an advanced form of dynamic trap sequencing to fulfill the detection efficiency requirements at different particle sizes. In the IPG’s sensor design, the sample treatment and particle detection are integrated to provide accurate and repeatable results for particle number concentration measurements.
The sensor element in the IPG is heated, and an additional VPR (volatile particle remover), is used for efficient hydrocarbon removal.
Onsite, online, phone, and email support are included with each IPG product.

Next-generation technology: GlobalMRV’s Ionic Particle Gauge (IPG) is a next-generation particle sensor offering real-time monitoring of particle concentration and size.
Versatile for a variety of industries: The sensor was first developed for vehicle emission testing, and today it’s available for all industrial measuring and monitoring applications where reliability, accuracy, and ease of use are required.
Designed with you in mind: The IPG is specifically designed for OEM applications, and it comes with a range of data communication and other integration features that can be modified according to customer-specific needs. We can ensure that sensor availability is evenly in large quantities.
Reliable and accurate for the long-term: GlobalMRV’s IPG sensor combines diffusion charging with escaping current technology, which allows long-term, reliability, and accurate monitoring of ultrafine particles. With our unique technology, the sample flows through the sensor without being collected inside the system, thereby enabling very long maintenance intervals even in high-concentration measurements.
Measures key data and substances: The IPG sensor measures particle number PN, lung deposited surface area (LDSA), and mass concentrations. Additionally, the IPG provides information on the median size of measured particles — all in one system!
Robust and durable: GlobalMRV’s IPG sensor can even be heated to detect particles directly in high-temperature conditions. The sensor requires minimal maintenance and no attention from the user during use, as built-in self-diagnostics ensure reliable results. All these features make the Ionic Particle Gauge an ideal choice to monitor ultrafine particles in the harshest environments and conditions.
